ella’s first birthday party and a sick day.

ella’s first birthday party was so much fun. a lot of work was put into it and it was a bit exhausting but it was all worth it!

we had a picnic themed party. ate outdoors on blankets under twinkle lights and also on my in-laws lovely patio. we ate fruit, chicken pasta salad, and a leafy green salad along with raspberry lemonade. for dessert, we ate a delicious lemon birthday cake and white chocolate strawberry homemade ice cream. guests were sent home with lemon poppyseed cake with an orange glaze.

thank you to everyone who helped out (all of ella’s family)!

photos by my sister aly and myself. (some images are film and some are digital)

ella is sick today, and we are heading to the doctors in about an hour. i really hope she doesn’t have swine flu. keep your fingers crossed for us!

It turned out so cute! I love the last picture (on the right) of Ella eating cake. Can’t wait for Eva’s birthday!

brittany: you are so inspiring! i LOVE the cake, the favours, and the photos! and the decor is amazing! the large paper flowers are STUNNING! your family stories always inspire me and make me so excited to have our own little one to celebrate with!

That birthday cake is beautiful. It would have been hard to eat it and ruin the perfection.

Macie, thank you! Aly took that picture, didn’t she do such a great job? Eva’s birthday will be so much fun for you guys! I can’t believe she’ll be one soon! It goes so fast doesn’t it?

Robyn, you are so super sweet! I can’t take credit for the cake, my mother in law and sisters in law did the cake. it was my favorite too! the paper flowers were cool, some of hem were better than others and unfortunately the better ones weren’t really photographed…next time i’ll be better prepared! And I am so excited for you and your future little one! You two will have so much fun!

Kristin, it wasn’t too hard to eat it because it was absolutely delicious! but it was pretty tempting to just stare at it for forever…it was so gorgeous!

I’m not sure if my last comment worked or not, but her birthday looks like it was amazing! She had the cutest 1st birthday party of any kid I know. It’s so pretty and fun and elegant at the same time. She’s growing up with an amazing life!
