when ella turned one, we were told by her doctor that she should be drinking from a sippy cup…sweet! no biggie. and oh how exciting! ella was growing up so fast, and a sippy cup was the perfect way to begin her becoming a grown up toddler. plus, sippy cups come in cool colors and shapes! i know she is going to love love love her new sippy cups.
what i didn’t know at the time was that taking the bottle away would be pretty dramatic. we went for three days trying to get her to drink from a sippy cup. i started thinking that letting her drink from a bottle for a little longer really wouldn’t hurt her, and maybe i could just keep trying to convince her each day that that sippy cups were cool and maybe she would finally start to believe me!
on the fourth day of sippy cup brainwashing (just kidding) ella and i were roaming around target and came upon one of my favorite sections in the store. the baby section. you know, the place where all of the new and exciting baby gadgets, clothes, and toys are hanging all nice and pretty. it was there that i discovered the munchkin sippy cup. a sippy cup that seemed to sing to my little one. a sippy cup that was pleading to be purchased and handled by ella. i gave in to this munchkin sippy cup‘s calls, purchased him, and brought him home to try out.
instant success. ella drank a full cup of milk in her munchkin sippy cup and has now made friends with 3 others. she even plays with her old sippy cups on occasion.
i am happy to say that ella has now been going bottle free for a month strong! welcome to toddlerhood my dear!
