as i was getting ready in the bathroom yesterday morning, my daughter wanted to play in the bathroom too. she grabbed a large pink box out from under the sink and stepped just out of the bathroom to play.
ella has always loved playing with boxes, i thought to myself, and this one isn’t even open yet, so there’s no harm. i turned back to the mirror and began getting ready again. a minute later, i glanced back over to find ella reaching into the box quickly and happily tossing the contents over her shoulder all over the floor.
“ella!” i gasped, as pressure (feelings of anxiety when viewing a mess) rushed into my chest. my daughter shouldn’t be playing with tampons, and here they are, all over the floor! what kind of a mother am i?
ella glanced at me with wide eyes and a gleeful smile. after sensing my tension, her smile faltered.
i took a deep breath, smiled, and instead of cleaning the mess right up, i grabbed my camera.
