ella and her sippy cups

when ella turned one, we were told by her doctor that she should be drinking from a sippy cup…sweet! no biggie. and oh how exciting! ella was growing up so fast, and a sippy cup was the perfect way to begin her becoming a grown up toddler. plus, sippy cups come in cool colors and shapes!  i know she is going to love love love her new sippy cups.

what i didn’t know at the time was that taking the bottle away would be pretty dramatic. we went for three days trying to get her to drink from a sippy cup. i started thinking that letting her drink from a bottle for a little longer really wouldn’t hurt her, and maybe i could just keep trying to convince her each day that that sippy cups were cool and maybe she would finally start to believe me!

on the fourth day of sippy cup brainwashing (just kidding) ella and i were roaming around target and came upon one of my favorite sections in the store. the baby section. you know, the place where all of the new and exciting baby gadgets, clothes, and toys are hanging all nice and pretty. it was there that i discovered the munchkin sippy cup. a sippy cup that seemed to sing to my little one. a sippy cup that was pleading to be purchased and handled by ella. i gave in to this munchkin sippy cup’s calls, purchased him, and brought him home to try out.

instant success. ella drank a full cup of milk in her munchkin sippy cup and has now made friends with 3 others. she even plays with her old sippy cups on occasion.

i am happy to say that ella has now been going bottle free for a month strong! welcome to toddlerhood my dear!

sneak peek

Mortgensen Family

i had such a sweet time photographing this little baby and his family.  more to come later!

i don’t know if i ever mentioned it, but i updated my website (awhile ago). it has a new look…and that is because my husband didn’t have time to keep updating my site for me…sad but it has allowed him to focus more on family, work, and school. anyway, i put this one together almost all by myself and am happy with the results.

take a look and let me know what you think!

elle belle and a play day

Elle 9 months

i was trying to put this photo up all day long…yup, our internet was being a bit funny for me today (which is unusual). anyway, this is really just a super cute photo of my super cute baby, and i have plenty more of these, so i’ll just post the rest of this shoot at one time. isn’t she such a doll? i love the little two front teeth she is sporting now.

can anyone figure out what color her eyes are? everyone keeps asking me and trying to figure it out. her hair is also a pretty soft reddish, blondish, brownish color wouldn’t you say? or what color would you say?

p.s. we played again today. we went swimming, nibbled on grahm (spelling?) crackers, laughed, went for a drive, took pictures, walked, played with chap sticks and lip glosses, and did aunt aly’s make-up. happy day.

fresh air please?

Ella

when i’ve been working inside our place editing photos for awhile, i sometimes feel like a hermit. i’m hiding out, avoiding the beautiful weather outside and skipping out on the physical activity that my body is in desperate need of. i have so many ideas that need to happen, and for them to happen, i need to walk out of the door!  getting outside also helps encourage new ideas; and new ideas rock!

challenge- get outside tomorrow!
