This is some good to know stuff for clients and photographers.

tuesday tips- what to wear…

today’s tuesday’s tip is all about what to wear when getting your pictures taken…big subject, and unfortunately, i’m going to have to make it really fast, because my girl has a doctors appointment in 30 minutes! so, to make things quicker, i’m going to make a nice list for ya! the do’s and don’ts of clothing for pictures!

don’t:

1. wear matching clothing. and yes, that means stay away from the all white shirts and all jeans look.:)

2. wear all blacks or all whites.

do:

1. wear colors! use colors that don’t necessarily match, but that look good together!

2. incorporate patterns. when everyone is just in solid colors it can get a bit boring.

3. layering is awesome. cardigans, scarves, sweaters (when the weather is chilly), etc…

4. accessories are fun too. hats, wraps, scarves, jewelry, etc…but try not to go overboard, and try to keep it natural (meaning, something you would normally wear.)

5. if you are having a difficult time figuring out what to wear, look for inspiration in clothing adds, catalogs, etc… (gap, jcrew, crewcuts, oldnavy)

6. wear something that makes you comfortable. sweats and pajamas? maybe…depending on the location.;)

i hope these tips help! i’ve gotta run, but i may be adding to this list later when i have a little more time!

rough night, a tuesday tip coming soon, and last chance to sign up for a mini session!

i had a difficult time sleeping last night, and i’m going to blame colors, flowers, decor, textures, food, photography, and the crazy neighbors. i couldn’t sleep until after midnight, woke up at 2:00am fell back asleep around 3:00am (i think), woke up at around 4:30am, and then maybe fell back asleep around 5:30. eek.

when i’m feeling normal again, i’ll be back with a tuesday tip!

remember our mini sessions day! i have one slot left, so if you are interested, send me an email or give me a call!

cross your fingers for spring blossoms, coloring, and plans for the weekend.

we headed over to the orchard i want to shoot in next week to check out the blooms…good news? they are just starting to bloom. bad news? it is snowing outside right now, so who knows what it’s going to be like next week. i’m just loving utah weather. (a bit of sarcasm in that last statement)

anyway, i snagged a few shots of ell. it was cold, so we lasted for about three minutes, but we did get these shots and i’m pretty excited about them. my girl is so cute, and seriously makes each day so much fun.

one of e’s favorite things to do is to color, and she will repeat the color’s name after i say it (when she wants to, of course); but when i hold up, for instance, a pink or a purple crayon, and ask her what color it is, she always responds with “boo,” which means “blue.”

well, it’s friday (finally) and we are excited to play and work hard this weekend. we’re planning on lots of cleaning, organizing (for home and work), editing, printing and hanging, playing, and eating. eating is always important to me.

what are you doing this weekend?

mini sessions are planned for next week! be sure to email me for a time slot!

wedding special is still going on! for more info, click here.

mini sessions day!

what? a mini sessions day! i will set aside a 2 hour block, and will be scheduling up to four 20 min. portrait sessions. cost for session and disc – $75

when? i just checked the forecast and it’s supposed to be rainy and snowy for the next week and a half! there is one day that looks like it might be warm and rain/snow/hail free; and that day is wednesday the 5th. if this day doesn’t work, we’ll schedule the mini sessions day on may 14th or 15th (fri. or sat.).

where? an orchard similar to the one in this image below. when you book your mini session, i will give you directions to the location. i was hoping for blossoms, but the weather might destroy that…but look how pretty the orchard is even with out the blossoms! (p.s. it just started to snow outside).

how? to book a a mini session slot, send me an email, and you will be placed on the list. i’ll respond with a time, location, quote, and contract.

i’m so excited about this mini sessions day! we will have a few “props” available for the shoot if you are interested. i don’t usually love photos that look like they used “props,” and would prefer if the items in the photos really belonged to you! that way, the images really reflect your real life much better! however, i know that adds more stress to the whole family pictures situation, and it’s more important that we just have tonz of fun! so if you are interested in participating in our mini session day, send me an email!
