evening drive, getting the shot, and what are these?

Purple

Field of Purple

our little family went on a drive yesterday and happened upon this strange field filled with funky purple flower weed type things….i have no idea what these are, but they looked unbelievably cool in the summer sun haze, so i decided that i had to snap a few pictures.

“snapping a few pictures” wasn’t as easy as it had seemed it would be. first off, i was wearing flip flops and having to march my way through dirt, weeds, stickers, tall grass, and other not fun things to get to the mysterious purple bud flower weeds (or whatever they are). second, i couldn’t stop myself from imagining snakes slithering by my feet as a hiked to this spot. i hate snakes. i don’t think there is anything else in the world i dislike as much as i dislike snakes (squirming even now, as i am writing this). and last, once i had stepped out of the car, the bugs started to dance around me and then eat me alive! ugh! (more squirming) and i couldn’t stop myself from thinking, “i’m going to get west nile!”

somethings never leave us, and unfortunately, dramatics is one of them.

the pictures turned out really neat though. to me, the purple flower weeds (or whatever) seem to belong in a fairy tale…but to know if they are on the hero’s side of the story or the villan’s side, i cannot tell, can you?

Wow! I have no idea what those are, but I think you did a fantastic job of capturing their whimsical summery essence. I would say in a fair fight they would be on the good side rather than the evil. Mostly because purple is my favorite color.

They’re thistles. :) Beautiful photos Brittany.

nectarines

Fruit this pretty makes it almost laughably easy to stop craving all of those sugary treats…almost.

That sounds great! It is always better when you have someone to answer to. Speaking of which, I am having a coupon, learn how to save money class on Wednesday. Aly is coming, would you like to come too?? P.s. Maybe sometime this week you could show me some Yoga. I am thinking that it would help my stress immensely!

I’m with ya, Britt! I’ve been trying to lose the baby weight! I never used to like fish either until just a few weeks ago my dad made some amazing salmon and now Brady and I eat it at least once a week. The frozen salmon at costco that’s already marinated is really good too! Give it a try. Also, we eat huge salads for lunch with tons of great stuff packed on it and a delicious poppyseed dressing that we make that’s really healthy. Let me know if you want the recipe!

To my Ella,

Loves, you are the sweetest and dearest person mommy and daddy know, and we consider ourselves the luckiest people in the world to have you in our lives!

Sometimes at night, when you are sleeping, we sneak into your nursery to watch you sleep. You are a very wild sleeper, you get that from me.

You play with your feet a lot. You get that from your daddy.

What do you think about going on an adventure today?

love,
Mommy

Brittany,

I just spent a while looking over your blog and website, and you are a fabulous photographer. You know what would be fun? (I am always up for fun :) ) We should get together next time I am in Utah and go on a little photo outing. What do you say? I won’t be in town until the end of June and/or the beginning of August, but I would love to do some shooting together!

brittany - May 16, 2009 - 10:51 am

Libby, I would love that! Just call me when you get into town! What is your phone number?

Brandon - May 16, 2009 - 12:07 pm

lyn, i’ll post about our adventure soon!

Brandon - May 16, 2009 - 12:08 pm

Woops, this is brittany, not brandon.

My mother’s day gift!

My husband gave me some Dippidee cupcakes for Mother’s Day! I was wanting
to get these for my birthday, but we never had a chance to get them. Aren’t they just beautiful? And if you can believe it, they taste even better. I just ate one of these bad boys and I can honestly say, best cupcake I’ve ever had in my life (and I can say the same for the sugar cookie we ate while driving home).

Thank you Brandon and Dippidee!

I live right by Dippidee. I think I might have to stop in and try some of this goodness!

brittany - May 12, 2009 - 12:07 pm

You should, they are delicious!

Steph - May 12, 2009 - 2:22 pm

How fun! I LOVE the pictures as well. Your depth of field is addicting. And I think it’s funny that the first thing I thought when I saw that cupcake was that it looks like it’s in a little sacrament cup. So cute! HAHA.

brittany - May 19, 2009 - 9:29 am

Steph- That is what Brandon noticed too!
